Job summary

ECHELON ENGINEERS is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in the East Midlands. You will take customer requirements through to manufacturing release, delivering new product development and bespoke projects for a materials handling equipment manufacturer.

The role involves creating 3D models, detailed drawings, and performing engineering calculations, with emphasis on fabrication and machinery safety standards. UK travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Essential mechanical engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in machine-building or materials handling.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and producing manufacturing drawings.
• Knowledge of fabrication, sheet metal and machined parts.

Responsibilities

• Take requirements to manufacturing release for products and custom projects.
• Produce 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for conveyors and structures.
• Develop and extend existing product ranges to production.
• Perform engineering calculations (drives, belt tension, loads).
• Specify bought-out components and ensure design for manufacture.
• Adapt products for customer sites and support sales with layouts.
• Maintain BOMs, revision control and resolve issues.
