Job summary

J3A Recruitment is seeking a Marine Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established maritime engineering team in the North West of England. The role blends hands-on engineering with robust design work to deliver practical marine solutions.

You will apply Autodesk Inventor, produce drawings and specifications, and own work packages from concept through to installation in a real-world marine environment.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Marine Projects

• North West England

I’m working with an established engineering organisation looking to add an experienced

Marine Mechanical Design Engineer to its technical team.

This isn’t a purely desk-based design role. They need someone who combines strong

mechanical design capability with genuine hands-on engineering experience and understands

how mechanical systems work in a real marine environment.

What we’re looking for:

• Previous marine / maritime engineering experience – essential


• Strong mechanical design and engineering background


• Experience using Autodesk Inventor


• Practical, hands-on mechanical engineering experience


• Experience producing engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation


• Good understanding of marine mechanical systems, equipment and installations


• Ability to take ownership of engineering work packages


• Experience working alongside production, engineering and multidisciplinary teams


• Strong practical problem-solving skills


• Relevant Mechanical / Marine Engineering qualification or equivalent experience


• Security clearance required

You could currently be working as a Marine Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design

Engineer, Marine Design Engineer, Mechanical Systems Engineer or Mechanical Designer.

The sweet spot is someone who can design it, understand how it goes together and actually

knows what works in practice.
