Job summary

Osborne Appointments is working with a well-established engineering business in Hitchin to appoint a Mechanical Assembler. This hands-on role involves assembling mechanical components and equipment, with full in-house training and opportunities to develop specialist engineering skills.

You will join a team in a modern manufacturing facility, work Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm, and enjoy benefits such as on-site parking, medical insurance and a performance bonus.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in mechanical assembly or fitting.
• Confident with hand and power tools.
• Reading engineering drawings is beneficial but training is provided.
• Detail-oriented with commitment to quality.
• Able to work safely in a workshop and follow instructions.
• Willing to learn and work as part of a team.
• Experience with pipes, pumps or valves is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components and equipment for water treatment systems.
• Fit and connect pipes, pumps, valves, brackets and gauges.
• Use hand and power tools to complete assembly.
• Position and secure components following drawings.
• Assist with installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Identify and resolve basic assembly issues; escalate complex problems.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to meet quality targets.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment.
