Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Steam & HTHW) for HMP The Mount in Hemel Hempstead. You will maintain steam/HTHW plant, ensure regulatory compliance and work with a multidisciplinary team to keep prison operations safe and efficient.

The role requires boiler experience, knowledge of Legionella control, and a strong focus on health and safety. Excellent teamwork and organisation are essential, with 25 days holiday and a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience as a steam boiler operator or equivalent.
• Familiar with Water Supply Regulations and Legionella L8 requirements.
• Familiar with BG01 – safe operation of boilers.
• Experience on commercial/industrial steam, heating and water systems.
• Health & safety knowledge and practical risk awareness.
• Good organisational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and compliant mechanical maintenance of steam/HTHW systems.
• Operate and monitor boilers, assist with plant operability improvements.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to support prison operations.
