Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Maths Tutors in St Helens to provide tailored 1:1 educational support to learners. You'll plan engaging sessions around each learner's ability and help them make measurable progress.

This role suits an experienced maths teacher or tutor who enjoys working closely with individual learners. Start date September 2026, with 5–15 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Strong maths knowledge and ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Experience teaching or tutoring maths to learners.
• GCSE or Functional Skills maths experience desirable.
• Previous 1:1 tutoring experience advantageous.
• QTS, PGCE or equivalent desirable.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for enthusiastic Maths Tutors to provide tailored 1:1 educational support to children and young people across St Helens.

Learners may have gaps in their education or require additional support with their Maths. You'll have the opportunity to plan engaging sessions around their individual ability and help them make measurable progress.

This role would suit an experienced Maths teacher, tutor or education professional who enjoys working closely with individual learners.

Experience, Training and Qualifications

• Strong Maths subject knowledge
• Experience teaching or tutoring Maths
• GCSE or Functional Skills Maths experience desirable
• Previous 1:1 experience advantageous
• QTS, PGCE or equivalent desirable
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service or be willing to process a new application
