Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Maths Tutor to provide personalised, 1:1 tuition to children and young people across West Sussex. You will help learners build confidence in maths, strengthen understanding, and support progression in line with their needs and goals.

The role involves flexible hours, potential work across multiple towns in the region, and collaboration with Local Authorities to deliver tailored support for diverse learners, including those with SEND.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in an educational setting, tutoring, teaching, TA, mentoring or similar roles.
• Strong maths subject knowledge and ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised 1:1 Maths tuition to learners.
• Support learners with SEND or additional needs as desirable.
• Deliver engaging, pupil-centred sessions and monitor progress.

We're looking for a Maths Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition to children and young people across West Sussex.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative educational provision, helping them strengthen their mathematical understanding, improve confidence, and make meaningful progress. Students may be of varying ages and abilities, requiring a flexible and individualised approach to learning.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
• Strong Maths subject knowledge
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised sessions
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within West Sussex
