Job summary

Harris Academy Rainham seeks a Teaching Assistant specialising in maths to support individuals and groups, including those with SEND. You will assist in classroom learning and attend to students' personal needs, including welfare matters.

Qualifications

• Qualifications to degree level or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers.
• Some knowledge of strategies for young people with challenging behaviours.
• Awareness of social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Health and safety awareness in the workplace.
• Experience working with young people in education or training.
• Experience establishing positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience managing own workload.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Good administrative and organisational skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate children.
• Ability to work with team across levels.
• Good ICT skills and ability to update records/databases in MS packages.
• Ability to work on own initiative with good judgement when unsupervised.
• Flexibility of approach to work.
• Maintain confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting identified students in 1:1, group or whole class situations.
• Assisting in developing resources, schemes of work and teaching strategies.
• Assisting in evaluating students' progress and providing feedback.
• Leading small group sessions and interventions.
• Attending to students' personal needs as required.
• Supporting with behaviour management.
• Preparing classrooms and resources for lessons, and displaying students' work.
• Maintaining records and reporting information as directed.
• Building positive relationships with parents and carers.
