Job summary

Harris Academy Rainham seeks a Teaching Assistant to support individuals and groups of students, including those with SEND, in the classroom and with personal care where required. The role involves assisting with learning activities, preparing resources, and contributing to a safe, supportive learning environment.

You will work closely with teachers, monitor progress, and help with behaviour management, lunchtime duties and safeguarding responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications

• Degree level or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers.
• Experience with young people in education or training.
• Knowledge of strategies for students with challenging behaviours.
• Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace.
• Ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
• Good literacy and numeracy.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support identified students in 1:1, group or whole class settings.
• Develop resources and schemes of work to support learning needs.
• Evaluate progress and provide feedback on achievements and needs.
• Lead small group sessions and interventions.
• Attend to students' personal needs and welfare.
• Support with behaviour management and classroom preparation.
• Maintain records and communicate with parents/carers as directed.
• Assist with visits, trips and off-site activities.
