Job summary

Maiden Erlegh School is seeking an enthusiastic Classroom Teacher of Maths to join our team. You will plan, resource and deliver highly effective Maths lessons, contributing to curriculum development and creating a safe, ambitious learning environment.

You will use a range of teaching strategies to engage students, promote enjoyment of Maths and help all pupils make strong progress. You will build professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues, and support wider school life.

Qualifications

• Hold a good quality degree, a PGCE or equivalent qualification in secondary education, and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Ability to deliver engaging Maths lessons.
• High expectations for progress and achievement.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs and support learning.
• Clear communication with students, colleagues, parents and carers.
• Organised, reliable and able to manage workload and priorities.
• Confident using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
• Collaborative and approachable with colleagues and support staff.
• Committed to ongoing professional learning and development.
• Enthusiastic about contributing to wider and extra-curricular life of the school.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Maths lessons that engage, challenge and inspire students.
• Create an inclusive classroom where all students are supported to progress and achieve high standards.
• Use diverse teaching strategies to meet differing needs and overcome barriers to learning.
• Assess knowledge, understanding and progress to inform future teaching and support improvement.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement in a safe environment.
• Contribute to the Maths curriculum development and its effective delivery.
• Build positive professional relationships with students, parents, carers and colleagues.
• Direct and work with support staff to help students access learning successfully.
• Support tutor provision and students’ wider personal development and wellbeing.
• Participate in enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities and wider school life.
• Collaborate with colleagues and share best practice across the Trust.
