Job summary

Cover People are recruiting for a Maths Teacher to join a secondary school in Bury, Greater Manchester, starting in January 2027. QTS or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification is required, with experience teaching Maths at secondary level.

Cover People are currently recruiting for a Maths Teacher to join a secondary school in Bury, Greater Manchester, starting in January 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maths Teacher or Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking for a full‑time teaching position within a supportive secondary school environment.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and purposeful Maths lessons, helping pupils develop their numerical skills, mathematical understanding and problem‑solving abilities while making a positive impact on their academic progress.

This role would suit a passionate Maths specialist who is confident delivering the secondary Maths curriculum, building positive relationships with pupils and creating a positive and purposeful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Maths lessons across the secondary age range.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the school's curriculum.
• Support pupils in developing their mathematical knowledge, numerical fluency and problem‑solving skills.
• Monitor, assess and track pupil progress effectively.
• Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
• Prepare pupils for assessments and examinations where appropriate.
• Identify areas for improvement and provide constructive feedback to support progress.
• Encourage pupil participation, confidence and a positive attitude towards Maths.
• Contribute to the wider Maths department and school community.
• Support the academic and personal development of all learners.

Requirements

• QTS or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge across the secondary Maths curriculum.
• Experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
• Confidence delivering engaging lessons that support pupils of varying abilities.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• A passion for Maths, teaching and pupil progress.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• The right to work in the UK.
