Job summary

Peterborough College in Stamford is seeking a passionate Maths Lecturer to join our SEND-focused Skills for Work and Living team. You will teach Maths from Entry Level 1 through Level 1 Functional Skills, creating an inclusive learning environment that supports learners to gain confidence and practical maths skills.

You will plan and adapt lessons for diverse needs, assess progress, provide feedback, and contribute to course materials and quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Maths at the appropriate level to teach.
• Minimum Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
• Recent experience in inclusive learning.
• Strong knowledge of SEND and adapting teaching to meet learner needs.
• Ability to embed English and Maths within curriculum delivery.

• Deliver engaging and high-quality Maths teaching to learners with SEND, from Entry Level 1 to Level 1 Functional Skills.
• Plan and adapt lessons and activities to meet a range of learner needs, including communication, cognition, sensory and SEMH needs.
• Assess learner work, provide timely and constructive feedback and support learners to understand their progress and how they can improve.
• Develop engaging course materials, schemes of work and learning resources that support effective teaching and learner progress.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and managers to develop and review programmes and continuously improve the learning experience.
• Monitor learner attendance, progress and achievement and maintain accurate records in line with College procedures.
• Support assessment and quality assurance processes, including internal verification where appropriate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Lecturer to join our Skills for Work and Living team. This is a rewarding opportunity to teach and support learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), delivering Maths from Entry Level 1 through to Level 1 Functional Skills.

You will play an important role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment, adapting your teaching to meet individual needs and helping learners build confidence in Maths and develop the skills they need for everyday life, further learning and future opportunities.

What you’ll be doing as a Maths Lecturer

We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for teaching Maths and supporting learners with SEND to achieve their goals.

You will have:

• A relevant qualification in Maths at the appropriate level to teach the subject.
• A minimum of Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
• Comprehensive and recent experience of working within inclusive learning.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of SEND and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of learner needs.
• An understanding of current developments within the subject area and the ability to embed English and Maths within curriculum delivery.
• A collaborative and flexible approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous teaching experience, experience within Further Education, course coordination experience and an Internal Verifier/IQA qualification would be advantageous.
