Job summary

Groveside School in Reading is seeking a passionate Maths Teacher to inspire pupils and support learners, including those with SEND, ASD, SEMH and challenging behaviours. You’ll deliver engaging lessons, build relationships and adapt teaching to meet diverse needs.

The role is 37.5 hours per week, permanent and term-time only, starting September 2026, with a £45,000 salary plus a £1,000 Welcome Bonus. This position is with Outcomes First Group and Groveside School.

What you will be doing

• Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to individual needs, abilities and learning styles.
• Monitor and assess progress, using data and other strategies to identify next steps and raise achievement.
• Develop personalised learning and behaviour plans alongside colleagues and other professionals.
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and self-regulation through positive and restorative approaches.
• Work collaboratively with Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, Care and other professionals to provide consistent support.
• Contribute to the development of the Maths curriculum and wider school improvement priorities.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, communication, record keeping and pupil wellbeing.

What you will bring

• We’re looking for a qualified and inspirational teacher who can combine high expectations with patience, creativity and compassion.
• QTS qualification or equivalent required
• Experience teaching Maths and working with pupils with SEND, ASD, SEMH and/or challenging behaviour.
• The resilience and confidence to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve more than they thought possible.
• The ability to work independently while being a committed member of a collaborative team.
• A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wider development of every pupil.

About Us

Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils.
