Job summary

Explore Learning Cheltenham is seeking a Maths and English Tutor to support members aged 4-16, delivering sessions using Compass, and helping learners progress through the national curriculum and GCSE prep.

You will work on-site at the Cheltenham centre, part-time, minimum 6 hours per week across multiple weekdays. Training and development opportunities are provided as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSE Maths and English grade 6 or above.
• Age 16 or over and right to work in the UK.
• Commitment to tutoring 6 hours per week minimum over at least two weekdays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored tutoring sessions to learners aged 4–16 using Compass.
• Build meaningful relationships and create a safe, inspiring learning environment.
• Support progression through the national curriculum and exams preparation.
• Lead engaging sessions for small groups and manage behaviour positively.

Location

This is an on‑site role and you will be based at our Cheltenhamcentre.

Contract

This is a permanent, part time role. You will be contracted to work a minimum of 6 hours a week over at least 2 different weekdays. Our available shift start times are

330-4pm Tuesday

330-4pm Wednesday

330-4pm Thursday

330-4pm Friday

Morning/afternoon Saturday

Please note This is not a summer‑only role; we are seeking dedicated tutors to support our members throughout the next academic year and beyond.

Pay Rates & Progression

Earn more as you progress!You will start on the base rate for your age group, with an annual opportunity to increase your pay based on the number of hours you have tutored for us.

Base Hourly Rate

Under 18 £840

18-20 £10.90

21+ £12.75

• an additional 50p per hour will be added if working at a centre inside the M25. You will be paid for all training and inductions.

Requirements

You must be age 16 or over and have the right to work in the UK. You must have achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level orequivalent (we accept predicted GCSE grades if you will be receiving your results within the next 3 months).
