Job summary

Explore Learning in Oxford is hiring a Maths and English Tutor to deliver tailored sessions on-site at our Oxford centre. You’ll coach children aged 4–16, using Compass to tailor lessons, stretch goals, and scaffold learning.

You’ll foster safe, inspiring environments and track progress across the national curriculum and entrance exams. You must be 16+ with right to work in the UK and have GCSE Maths & English grade 6 or above.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored sessions using Compass to facilitate learning through guided questioning and scaffolding.

Location

This is an on‑site role and you will be based at our Oxford centre.

Contract

This is a permanent, part time role. You will be contracted to work a minimum of 6 hours a week over at least 2 different weekdays. Our available shift start times are

• 330-4pm Tuesday
• 330-4pm Wednesday
• 330-4pm Thursday
• 330-4pm Friday
• Morning/afternoon Saturday

Please note this is not a summer‑only role; we are seeking dedicated tutors to support our members throughout the next academic year and beyond.

Pay Rates & Progression

Earn more as you progress! You will start on the base rate for your age group, with an annual opportunity to increase your pay based on the number of hours you have tutored for us.

Base Hourly Rate

• Under 18 £840
• 18-20 £10.90
• 21+ £12.75
• an additional 50p per hour will be added if working at a centre inside the M25. You will be paid for all training and inductions.

Requirements

You must be age 16 or over and have the right to work in the UK. You must have achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent (we accept predicted GCSE grades if you will be receiving your results within the next 3 months).
