Job summary

Longsands Academy in St Neots seeks a Lead Practitioner of Mathematics from January 2027 to inspire high standards of teaching and learning across the maths department. You will lead curriculum alignment and drive ambition for all scholars.

You will work with senior leaders to deliver professional development, act as an instructional coach, and use assessment data to raise pupil progress and expectations across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Qualifications

• QTS and a degree in Mathematics or closely related subject.
• Proven record of success at Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Strong subject expertise with a passion for mathematics and curriculum development.
• Ability to inspire, coach and develop colleagues to improve teaching practice.
• Experience using assessment and data to improve scholar progress.
• High expectations of achievement, behaviour and attendance.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and model exceptional classroom practice across the mathematics department.
• Support the development of high-quality curriculum planning, resources and assessment approaches.
• Deliver professional development and training that strengthens teaching and learning across the academy.
• Act as an instructional coach, providing guidance and support to colleagues to improve classroom practice.
• Use assessment and performance data to identify priorities and drive improvements in scholar outcomes.
• Contribute to quality assurance activities, including lesson visits, monitoring and evaluation.
• Work collaboratively with leaders to implement improvement strategies aligned with academy priorities.
• Build effective partnerships with colleagues, families and external organisations to enhance opportunities for scholars.
