Job summary

The Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is advertising a Band 3 Apprentice Ward Clerk in the Maternity Services in Romford. The role combines clerical support to midwifery and medical teams with on-the-job training through the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship.

You will greet women and families, handle admissions documentation on Medway, check registrations, and support ward operations while maintaining confidentiality and high standards of service.

Qualifications

• Be 18 years old or over
• Have the right to work in the UK with a visa that covers the duration of the apprenticeship
• Have been permanently resident in the UK for the past 3 years
• We welcome applications from those with lived experience of the care system.

Responsibilities

• Greeting women and their partners or families to wards or department areas in a polite and courteous manner.
• Responding to entry buzzers ensuring security is maintained at all times.
• Ensure that the appropriate documentation of all admissions is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• To receive clients arriving at the hospital for admission, checking and amending any registration details held on the Patient Administration System (Medway).
• To be responsible for confirming the client admission on Medway in order that inpatient activity statistics are updated on a regular basis.
