Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 3 Maternity Support Worker to join the maternity services. You will work under indirect supervision of a midwife/neonatal nurse, providing direct care to women and babies, and act as an advocate within the multidisciplinary team to support family-centred care.

The role involves recording data, monitoring health, and escalating deviations when needed, with emphasis on compassionate, professional and respectful teamwork across departments.

Qualifications

5 GCSEs or equivalent
Level 2 healthcare or equivalent
Clinical experience

Responsibilities

Band 3 Maternity Support Workers provide direct delivery of clinical care to all women and babies accessing maternity services.
They may be based within specialist and integrated teams such as postnatal ward, SCBU and community hubs.
They may serve as a point of contact for women and their families and provide clinical, physical, psychological and emotional care and support.
