Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a senior maternity services role responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, prioritising women and birthing people, and allocating staff to maintain a safe, high-quality service.

The post holder will lead by example, support all staff in the multidisciplinary team, and work with the Head of Midwifery to deliver PRIDE values and an inclusive culture, while overseeing bed capacity, escalation

Qualifications

• Oversee daily service delivery within maternity services and allocate staff safely.
• Promote high standards of maternity care and act as role model.
• Provide clinical guidance and support to all staff within the multidisciplinary team.
• Support Head of Midwifery and matrons in their roles.
• Demonstrate PRIDE values and foster an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Review ward capacity and OPEL status; redeploy resources to meet demand.
• Coordinate with community helicopter and homebirth coverage as needed.
• Manage bed flow and use midwifery-led discharge to optimise space.
• Collaborate with Senior Midwives and Managers for a smooth, comprehensive service.
• Act as Maternity Patient Safety Co-ordinator on alert.
• Escalate concerns per policy and escalation procedures.
