Job summary

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced clinical leader to oversee the Labour Ward on a day-to-day basis, ensuring safe, high-quality care and smooth ward operations during shifts with governance oversight.

You will provide expert clinical support to the midwifery and obstetric MDTs, advise on staffing, equipment and policies, and act as a key resource across teams to maintain safe maternity services.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a Labour Ward or maternity unit.
• Strong understanding of obstetric care protocols and governance.
• Ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Labour Ward on a day‑to‑day basis.
• Maintain oversight of management for clinical care provided on the Ward during shifts.
• Provide expert clinical support to the midwifery and obstetric team.
• Advise on resources and equipment to enable safe, effective care across MDTs.
