Job Overview

Would you like to work in a highly motivated and friendly Maternity vaccination team covering Bath, North East Somerset, and West Wiltshire? This is an exciting opportunity to join a new service, working as part of a dynamic team delivering a safe and effective vaccination service for pregnant people across multiple sites within the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust.

We are seeking nurse/midwives with an interest in Public Health who are keen to ensure a universal vaccination offer within maternity services, including influenza, COVID-19, pertussis vaccinations in pregnancy, and BCG for newborns. Future support will include the rollout of the RSV vaccination program.

Rated ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC review, our service includes an acute hospital, two standalone birth centres, two community midwifery-led hubs, a 24-hour Maternity Assessment Unit, and plans for an alongside midwifery unit at RUH.

Candidate Requirements

• Observe NMC professional standards
• Be competent in all aspects of immunisation, including contraindications and anaphylaxis recognition and treatment
• Provide non-discriminatory, non-judgemental care
• Perform thorough health pre-assessments and document appropriately
• Address concerns, obtain consent, and ensure clinical assessments are recorded
• Escalate issues when necessary
• Handle and administer drugs safely following Trust policies
• Record vaccine batch numbers accurately in all records
• Stay updated with best practices through NHS England immunisation meetings
