Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Maternity Governance Officer (Band 6) to support the Clinical Governance Assurance Framework and risk management for site-based divisions. The role promotes a culture of safety and quality, with focus on incident review, escalation, and regulatory compliance.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams and use Datix and MS Office to generate timely reports for leadership and committees, contributing to annual plans and service standards

Qualifications

• Education to Degree level or equivalent.
• Training in incident management/PSIRF.
• Educated to degree level in governance/risk management.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate timely review of incidents and escalation of significant incidents.
• Support staff in meeting duty of candour and communicate with patients/families involved in safety incidents.
• Use Datix to draw reports and manage incidents, assign actions and ensure completion.
• Provide data and reports for divisional and regional meetings.
• Support governance groups to recognise and address risks.
• Coordinate incident learning and ensure timely final investigation reports.
