Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Governance professional to support the Clinical Governance Assurance Framework and risk management across site-based divisions to improve quality and safety.

The role focuses on timely incident reviews, escalation of significant incidents, regulatory compliance, and regular reporting to lead teams, with collaboration across multi-disciplinary staff to meet national and local standards.

Qualifications

• Education to Degree level or equivalent.
• Training in incident management/PSIRF.
• Educated to degree level in governance /risk management.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the effective and timely review of incidents and their management, escalating significant incidents.
• Support staff in meeting the duty of candour requirements and communicate with patients and families involved in safety incidents.
• Use the Datix system to draw reports and manage incidents, including assigning actions and ensuring completion.
• Provide data and reports for divisional and regional meetings.
• Provide reports for discussion at relevant meetings and support escalation of new risks via the MSE Risk and Compliance process to the divisional risk register.
• Provide expertise to investigators of incidents to identify lessons learned and document actions.
• Monitor and coordinate incident learning response tools/investigations for timely final reports.
• Disseminate the lessons learnt from adverse events.
• Ensure incident quality assurance process is effective and harm level is correctly recorded.
• Maintain the divisional sub Risk Register.
