Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Maternity Care Assistant (NHS AfC: Band 2) to join the maternity team on a fixed-term basis for 9 months to cover maternity leave. The post is rotational and involves supporting midwives to deliver high quality maternity care.

Applicants should have GCSEs, an NHS background is preferred, and must be able to work across day and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, with a comprehensive induction and training.

Qualifications

• Qualifications and Training: GCSE Maths/English and NVQ Level 2 in Health care or equivalent, plus Care Certificate.
• Experience: Recent NHS experience and willingness to undertake in-house training.
• Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of maternity care/services and Baby Friendly Initiative; strong communication.

Responsabilités

• To support and assist hospital-based midwives in delivering high quality maternity care across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.
• Under supervision of the midwife, provide direct care to women and babies and support infant feeding choices.
• Collaborate within the multi-professional team and cover a 24-hour shift pattern including weekends and bank holidays.
