Job Description:

CTS and our range of independent UKAS accredited laboratories provide on-site testing and laboratory services to the construction, quarry products and civil engineering industries across the whole of the UK.

Our purpose-built laboratories are fully equipped to test the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of soils, aggregates, concrete and bituminous materials as well as other construction materials and products.

Our highly-trained technicians and engineers either visit sites and take representative samples for subsequent laboratory testing, or conduct in-situ field tests.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to test samples of soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials.

Previous experience of working in construction or a physical property testing laboratory would be advantageous but is not essential as we will provide all the training necessary. There is also great opportunity for progression as a Laboratory Technician.

The position is based in our Construction Materials Testing laboratory in Doncaster, DN7 4JU.

Responsibilities:

  • To produce test results in accordance with the documented procedures, standards and specifications.
  • To ensure testing/sampling activities are maintained in compliance with company requirements and standards.
  • To ensure that the laboratory working areas are safe, clean and tidy environments in which to work.
  • Ensuring equipment is calibrated, safe and suitable for use.
  • To commit to ensuring the confidentiality of all customer information obtained or created during the performance of laboratory activities.

Role requirements:

  • Good oral, written and numeracy skills
  • Familiar with safe working practices
  • Good observational skills
  • Physically fit to complete role (manual work involved with carrying/ moving samples)
  • Previous experience in a testing / laboratory role desired but not necessary as full training will be provided.
