The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Material Planner to join an established business in Lurgan, supporting its supply chain and material planning operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in supply chain, purchasing or logistics. Whether you are a recent graduate or have some relevant work experience and are looking to develop your skills, full training and ongoing support will be provided. Previous supply chain experience is not essential.

Working closely with the Supply Chain Buyer/Planner and warehouse team, you will help ensure materials and components are ordered, delivered on time, and available to meet production requirements for a major OEM customer.

This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role suited to someone who is organised, proactive, detail‑oriented and confident communicating with suppliers to ensure orders arrive when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Place purchase orders and manage supplier call‑offs in line with system requirements.
  • Contact suppliers to confirm orders, delivery dates and quantities.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate purchase order records within the ERP system.
  • Proactively chase outstanding and overdue orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Expedite orders where stock levels are low or demand increases.
  • Manage order amendments, including delays, deferrals and cancellations where required.
  • Monitor stock levels and daily reports to identify potential shortages.
  • Maintain accurate records of critical parts, shortages and expected recovery dates.
  • Arrange inbound transport and collections from UK, European and international suppliers.
  • Track shipments, follow up delays and communicate revised delivery dates.
  • Check shipping and customs documentation, including movements between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  • Coordinate deliveries and booking‑in arrangements with the warehouse team.
  • Investigate delivery discrepancies, including incorrect parts, missing paperwork and quantity differences.
  • Work with internal departments to resolve purchase order and invoice queries.
  • Provide updates on late deliveries, material shortages and supplier performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply chain processes and material availability.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Degree in any discipline, or A-Levels/BTEC combined with relevant work experience.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in supply chain, purchasing or logistics.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and confidence using computer systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident communication skills, particularly when dealing with suppliers over the phone and by email.
  • A proactive approach to following up outstanding tasks and resolving issues.
Desirable Experience
  • A degree or qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or Engineering.
  • Previous exposure to ERP or MRP systems.
  • An understanding of stock control, material planning or replenishment processes.
  • Knowledge of kanban or pull‑based supply systems.
  • Familiarity with shipping documentation or Great Britain to Northern Ireland trade processes.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be organised, persistent and keen to learn. You will be comfortable speaking with suppliers, chasing outstanding orders and ensuring tasks are followed through to completion.

This role would suit a recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their career who wants to gain valuable experience within a busy supply chain environment and develop into a more experienced planning professional.
