Job summary

Responsibilities

• Supplier Relationship Management: daily engagement with suppliers to manage orders and performance.
• Material Planning & Scheduling: drive MRP to align production with demand.
• Inventory Control: maintain accuracy via stock audits and data analysis.
• Logistics Management: coordinate inbound/outbound flows for components, consumables, and finished goods.
• Supplier Performance: monitor OTIF and reliability.
• ERP Integrity: maintain ERP data accuracy and adjust forecasts based on consumption.
• Waste Reduction: analyze stock data to reduce obsolete inventory.
• Continuous Improvement: support site-wide supply chain optimisation projects.

Are you an experienced Material Planner looking to step into a fast-paced manufacturing environment?

We are partnering with a leading manufacturer in Coventry to find a dedicated Material Planner to join their team. In this role, the successful candidate will be the engine behind production scheduling and inventory workflows, acting as the primary, daily point of contact for supply chain partners via phone and email to ensure seamless material availability and strong vendor alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supplier Relationship Management: Actively engage with suppliers on a daily basis via phone and email to manage orders, resolve discrepancies, and drive performance.
• Material Planning & Scheduling: Drive material requirements planning (MRP) to align production schedules with operational demands.
• Inventory Control: Maintain strict inventory accuracy through regular warehouse stock audits and data analysis.
• Logistics Management: Coordinate smooth in- and out-bound flows for components, consumables, and finished goods.
• Supplier Performance: Monitor and track supplier metrics, including OTIF (On Time In Full), to ensure reliability.
• ERP Integrity: Maintain robust ERP data accuracy, adjusting forecasts dynamically based on actual consumption trends.
• Waste Reduction: Analyse stock data proactively to identify, manage, and reduce obsolete or excess inventory.
• Continuous Improvement: Support long-term supply chain optimisation projects and champion best practices on-site.

What We Are Looking For

• Education & Background: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of solid planning experience within a production, manufacturing, or automotive environment.
• Communication Skills: Confident, professional communicator with a proven track record of managing supplier relationships daily via phone and email.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
• Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to work autonomously, crunch numbers, generate insightful reports, and spot operational risks early.
• Cultural Fit: A proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset and excellent stakeholder communication skills.
