Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a manufacturing professional for a fixed-term role up to 24 months at our site in the UK. The position involves a 37.5-hour week with rotating shifts (early and late) on-site, focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency in a dynamic production environment.

You will report hazards, observe health standards, and contribute to continuous improvement while collaborating with the Materials team and other departments. Training is provided where needed.

Qualifications

  • PIV experience or training is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail to follow procedures and ensure quality.
  • Solid teamwork and clear communication in a production environment.
  • Committed to health and safety and following protocols.
  • Reliable time-keeping to maintain production schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety by reporting hazards and incidents promptly.
  • Help uphold health standards through PPE usage and adherence to HSE.
  • Follow quality procedures and inspections to produce high quality products.
  • Identify and control non-conforming materials to reduce waste and costs.
  • Operate equipment efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Keep work area clean and perform routine maintenance.
  • Collaborate with team and support staff for a productive environment.
  • Engage in training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

This is a fixed term contract up to 24 months, with the potential for a permanent contract.

Working 37.5 hours per week on a weekly rotating shift pattern of:

  • Mornings: Monday to Friday 6.30am – 2.30pm
  • Afternoons: Monday to Friday 3.00pm – 11.00pm

  • Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping your work area clean and performing routine maintenance will ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations.
  • Collaborating Effectively: Communicating with your team and support staff will foster a cooperative and productive work environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engaging in training and actively participating in improvement initiatives will help enhance processes and personal development.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrate a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and applications, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attention to Detail: Follow procedures meticulously to ensure quality and accuracy, quickly identify and address quality issues, and minimize downtime.
  • Although not required as training will be provided, candidates with experience operating any PIV help to contribute to a safe, more efficient and productive workplace.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously follow procedures and specifications to ensure quality and accuracy in handling and delivering material and components to the production lines. Ability to identify quality issues and or incorrect parts, to quickly minimize production downtime.
  • Time Keeping: Delivering material in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and keeping the production line running smoothly.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively within the Materials team and across departments. Communicate clearly about processes, issues, and safety concerns.
  • PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) Experience.
