Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Materials Manager (Package Manager) to lead all material management activities on a major Cumbria project. You will ensure materials are available, stored safely and delivered to support construction delivery, supervising Materials Coordinators, Stores and Logistics personnel.

The role requires strong inventory control, planning and cross-functional collaboration with Procurement, Supply Chain and Construction teams.

Qualifications

• Experience leading material management, warehousing or logistics in construction or engineering.
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
• Strong inventory management and stock control.
• Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to collaborate across procurement, supply chain, construction and commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Materials Coordinators, Stores and Logistics teams.
• Procure, receive, store, preserve and distribute project materials.
• Ensure material availability aligns with work packs and programme.
• Maintain inventory records and traceability in MMS.
• Develop delivery schedules with Procurement and Construction teams.
• Manage OS&D processes and resolve material issues.
• Coordinate on-site and off-site storage and logistics.
• Produce material management reports for decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement in warehousing and logistics.
• Promote Zero Harm safety culture.
