Job description

On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Materials Engineer to join on an initial 6-month contract. As the Materials Engineer, you will ensure the products meet demanding technical, cost, and reliability requirements.

Role:

Materials Engineer

Pay:

Up to 40 per hour via Umbrella

Location:

Stevenage

Contract:

Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week, 6 months contract

IR35 Status:

Inside

Security Clearance:

BPSS to start, but will require Security Clearance

Responsibilities:
  1. Assess materials including metals, paints, adhesives, composites, and related processes. Familiarity with lab equipment such as XRF, FTIR, SEM, and EDX is beneficial but not essential. A background in materials chemistry is desirable.
  2. Prepare reports, interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and use IT systems like Word, Excel, and Access.
  3. Support all aspects of the materials lab, including failure investigations, materials selection, supply chain support, inspection report reviews, and material characterization.
  4. Assist in generating or assessing compliance data such as REACh, RoHS, or environmental aspects of designs.
Essential Requirements:
  1. Experience in manufacturing laboratories.
  2. Assessment of materials and components to international standards including DEF STANs.
  3. Support in the selection, procurement, and manufacturing of engineering parts or components.
  4. Knowledge of non-metallic material production and processing, including paints and adhesives.
