Job summary

The JobsBoard is seeking a Material Controller on a 6-month contract to plan manufactured and purchased material and maximise resource use while minimising disruption. You will work a hybrid pattern, typically on site 3 days per week, with Friday early finish at 1:30pm, to support efficient operations.

Key duties include confirming component requirements with suppliers, managing MRP messages, optimising inventory, monitoring open orders, and addressing invoice queries to keep supply chains

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar Material Controller/Planner role.
• Knowledge of MRP messages and supplier schedules.
• Strong organisational and time management skills under deadlines.
• ERP system experience (Infor preferred).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure component requirements are communicated to suppliers.
• Understand and implement MRP messages and amend supplier schedules.
• Manage open order books to optimise inventory and coverage.
• Ensure inventory levels align with department objectives.
• Optimise external logistics costs.
• Highlight future supply risks.

Job description

The Material Controller will be responsible for ensuring the effective planning of manufactured and/or purchased material to maximise the effective use of resources and minimise any disruption caused by constraints.

This is working for a global manufacturing business and is required on a 6-month contract.

The role benefits from hybrid working with you typically being on site 3 days per week. The working pattern means you finish work on a Friday at 1.30pm giving you more of a weekend!

Role and Responsibilities of the Material Controller

• Ensure component requirements are correct and communicated to suppliers in a timely, professional manner
• Understand and implement any MRP generated 'messages' and amend supplier schedules accordingly
• Manage open order books to ensure appropriate order coverage and optimal inventory levels
• Ensure inventory levels of components under individual control are in alignment with departmental objectives
• Ensure external logistics costs are optimised using normal transportation methods
• Highlight future supply risks
• Provide monthly forecast of expected deliveries
• Proactively resolve invoice queries
• Identify and remedy excess inventory

Candidate requirements for the Material Controller

• Previous experience required in a similar role
• CIPS qualification is advantageous
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to identify problems and offer solutions
