Job summary

Trapeze Recruitment Services Ltd is seeking a Material Controller for a global manufacturing business on a 6-month contract. You will plan material from suppliers and manufacture to maximise resource use and minimise disruption, with a hybrid pattern (on site 3 days per week).

Key duties include communicating component requirements, interpreting MRP messages, managing open orders and inventory, optimising logistics costs, and forecasting deliveries.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar material controller role.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• ERP/MRP systems experience, preferably Infor.

Responsibilities

• Ensure component requirements are correct and communicated to suppliers in a timely, professional manner.
• Understand and implement any MRP generated 'messages' and amend supplier schedules accordingly.
• Manage open order books to ensure appropriate order coverage and optimal inventory levels.
• Ensure inventory levels of components under individual control are in alignment with departmental objectives.
• Ensure external logistics costs are optimised using normal transportation methods.
• Highlight future supply risks.
• Provide monthly forecast of expected deliveries.
• Proactively resolve invoice queries.
• Identify and remedy excess inventory.

Job description

The Material Controller will be responsible for ensuring the effective planning of manufactured and/or purchased material to maximise the effective use of resources and minimise any disruption caused by constraints.

This is working for a global manufacturing business and is required on a 6-month contract.

The role benefits from hybrid working with you typically being on site 3 days per week. The working pattern means you finish work on a Friday at 1.30 pm giving you more of a weekend!

Role and Responsibilities of the Material Controller

• Ensure component requirements are correct and communicated to suppliers in a timely, professional manner

Candidate requirements for the Material Controller

• Previous experience required in a similar role
• CIPS qualification is advantageous
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to identify problems and offer solutions
• Sound working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Infor
