Everyman Driving Experiences is seeking a Master Technician / Workshop Quality Controller at Donington Park. This senior, hands-on role focuses on diagnosing, repairing and inspecting high-performance vehicles to ensure safety and reliability for driving events.

Qualifications

Our vehicles operate in a demanding environment across events throughout the UK. Safety, reliability and the quality of our workshop repairs are therefore critical to the success of the business.

We are now looking for an exceptionally experienced and technically capable mechanic or automotive engineer to join our workshop team at Donington Park.

About the Role

This is a senior, hands‑on position for an experienced technician who can confidently diagnose, repair and inspect vehicles to an extremely high standard.

Your primary responsibility will be workshop quality control. You will inspect and sign off completed repairs, ensuring every vehicle leaving the workshop is safe, reliable and prepared to the standard required for our driving events.

You will also act as the workshop’s senior technical authority, supporting mechanics with difficult repairs, complex diagnostics and technical decision-making.

This is not a purely office‑based supervisory role. You will remain actively involved in workshop operations, assist with repairs where required and work closely with the team to improve standards, knowledge and consistency.

For the right person, this role offers a genuine opportunity to learn our specialist operation and progress into the position of Workshop Manager, taking responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of the workshop and many of the duties currently managed at senior level.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control and Vehicle Sign-Off

• Inspect all completed workshop jobs before vehicles are released.
• Confirm repairs have been completed correctly, safely and to a consistently high standard.
• Carry out final mechanical, visual and diagnostic inspections.
• Complete road tests where appropriate.
• Check that safety‑critical components have been correctly fitted, secured and tested.
• Confirm fluid levels, wheel security, braking systems, steering, suspension and other relevant safety items.
• Ensure warning lights, diagnostic faults and outstanding issues have been properly investigated.
• Verify that job cards and vehicle health reports accurately reflect the work completed.
• Prevent vehicles from being released where repairs or checks do not meet the required standard.
• Identify repeat faults, poor workmanship and recurring vehicle issues, then work with the team to prevent them happening again.

Technical Support

• Support technicians with complex mechanical, electrical and diagnostic faults.Assist with difficult repairs and provide a second opinion when required.Help determine the correct repair method and whether components should be repaired or replaced.Share technical knowledge and coach less‑experienced members of the workshop team.Help improve diagnostic procedures and reduce unnecessary parts replacement.Provide practical support during busy periods to keep repairs progressing.Help establish consistent repair and inspection standards across the workshop.

Workshop Supervision

• Support the allocation and prioritisation of workshop jobs.Monitor repair progress and highlight delays, parts requirements or technical concerns.Help ensure urgent and event‑critical vehicles are repaired in the correct order.Maintain high standards of workshop safety, organisation and housekeeping.Encourage accountability and ensure technicians take ownership of their work.Provide clear, constructive feedback when work does not meet the required standard.Support communication between the workshop, parts, transport and events teams.Deputise for the Workshop Manager or senior management when required.

Future Workshop Management

As your knowledge of our vehicles, events and operating procedures develops, the role is expected to grow to include:

• Managing the daily operation of the Donington Park workshop.Planning and allocating work across the technician team.Monitoring vehicle downtime, workshop productivity and repair quality.Managing workshop priorities around upcoming events.Supporting recruitment, training and development.Reviewing workshop performance and identifying areas for improvement.Ensuring job cards, health reports and repair records are completed correctly.Working with the Parts Department to manage repair requirements and availability.Taking responsibility for workshop standards, safety and team performance.Reporting on vehicle condition, outstanding repairs and operational risks.

About You

You will be a highly experienced automotive technician who takes genuine pride in doing jobs properly.

You must be confident enough to challenge poor workmanship, but also capable of supporting and developing the person who completed the work. We are looking for someone who leads through knowledge, consistency and practical experience rather than simply handing out instructions.

You will need:

• At least 10 years’ hands‑on experience within a professional automotive workshop, or demonstrably equivalent senior‑level experience.Advanced mechanical and diagnostic ability.Experience completing major mechanical repairs, fault‑finding and safety‑critical work.A strong understanding of vehicle braking, suspension, steering, drivetrain, engine and electrical systems.Experience inspecting and signing off completed workshop repairs.The ability to diagnose faults accurately and explain repair requirements clearly.Experience supporting, supervising or mentoring other technicians.Strong attention to detail and an uncompromising approach to vehicle safety.The confidence to stop a vehicle from being released if it does not meet the required standard.Good organisational and communication skills.The ability to remain calm and make sensible decisions in a busy workshop.A full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

• Master Technician or Senior Technician position.Workshop Controller or Workshop Supervisor position.Performance, prestige or supercar vehicles.Motorsport or track‑prepared vehicles.Large mixed‑vehicle fleets.High‑usage rental, experience or event vehicles.Advanced vehicle diagnostics.Workshop management.Automotive qualifications at Level 3 or above.Hybrid or electric vehicle qualifications.

Experience with every manufacturer in our fleet is not expected. Our operation is unusual, and there will be a learning period while you become familiar with our vehicles, working methods and event requirements.
