Job summary

Autotech Recruit Ltd. in Chelmsford, Essex is seeking an experienced Master Technician to join a large automotive retail group. The role offers £60,000 OTE, welcome bonus up to £2,500 and extensive manufacturer training in a modern workshop.

You will perform diagnostics to manufacturer standards, mentor other technicians, and ensure high workmanship, safety and customer satisfaction in a busy service environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance &Repair or equivalent.
• Experience as Master Technician, Senior Vehicle Technician or Diagnostic Technician.
• Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Strong understanding of vehicle safety standards and workshop procedures.
• Proven ability to achieve efficiency and productivity targets.

Responsibilities

• Carry out complex vehicle diagnostics, maintenance and repair work to manufacturer standards.
• Analyse and resolve advanced mechanical, electrical and technical faults.
• Complete detailed vehicle inspections and identify repair requirements.
• Provide technical expertise and support to workshop colleagues.
• Assist with mentoring and developing other technicians within the team.
• Liaise with service advisors and workshop controllers to ensure efficient workflow.
• Deliver high standards of workmanship, safety and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently and in line with manufacturer requirements.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Master Technician, Senior Vehicle Technician or Diagnostic Technician
• Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Strong understanding of vehicle safety standards and workshop procedures
• Proven ability to achieve efficiency and productivity targets
• Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• MOT Tester licence advantageous but not essential
• Full UK driving licence required
