Job summary

East Sussex County Council is seeking a Caseworker for the Multi-Agency Saf safeguarding Hub (MASH) in Eastbourne. You will discuss family needs with parents, advise on appropriate support, and help gather information for decisions across agencies.

You’ll prepare assessments to identify risks and safeguarding needs, working in a fast-moving, supportive team that aims for timely decisions and better outcomes for children and families.

Qualifications

• QCF Level 2 in English and Maths or ability to pass assessment at interview.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Children Act 1989.
• Understanding of Working Together, with specific reference to Information Sharing.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work appropriately, working to tight deadlines with a flexible approach to work.
• Ability to undertake basic assessment work, identifying risk and protective factors and to be able to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Talk with parents/carers about the needs of their children and provide advice.
• Contribute to decision making about support and gather information with other agencies.
• Prepare assessments that highlight when children may need extra support.
• Work towards timely decisions within set timescales and respond to requests for help across East Sussex.
• Develop skills and experience within a supportive team in safeguarding children.
