Birmingham City Council is seeking an experienced professional to lead and develop the Markets Service, overseeing a small team of officers and engaging with stakeholders across multiple market locations.

The role focuses on delivering high-quality services, driving income generation, and implementing improvements while managing budgets and contracts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree Level and Diploma in Markets Management or equivalent.
• Experience delivering services in high pressure environments at management level.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and procure and manage contracts.

Responsabilités

• Lead day-to-day operational management of Rag, Indoor and Open Markets with high-quality service delivery.
• Manage and develop market teams, staff performance and workforce planning.
• Drive service improvements, efficiency initiatives and income generation.
• Support financial management including budget monitoring and forecasting.
• Oversee procurement activities and supplier relationships.
• Engage traders and stakeholders to promote market growth and engagement.
• Develop and deliver market strategies, business plans and performance measures.
