Job summary

Wigan Council seeks a Caretaker for Leigh Market to support the Economic Development Service and ensure the cleanliness of markets. You will operate cleaning machinery, perform minor repairs, and help with maintenance of market equipment and facilities.

You will assist with security, hold keys, and participate in events across markets and town centres. The role runs five days a week, including Saturdays, with potential site coverage across different Market locations.

Qualifications

• Experience in general building and open space cleaning.
• Knowledge of using cleaning machinery including scrubber/dryers, waste compactors and balers.
• Ability to work 5 days per week including Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning of buildings and open spaces using manual methods and machinery.
• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance to Market equipment and assist in upkeep of Markets.
• Assist with market site security and have key holding responsibilities.
• Be involved in events that take place in the markets and town centres.
