About The Role
We are looking for a Marketing Director to lead and organise our marketing function, covering paid and digital marketing, CRM, social media, influencer marketing and brand marketing.
This is a general management role first and foremost: you will oversee specialists and agencies across each channel, but your core value lies in bringing structure, discipline and a clear critical path to a fast-moving marketing operation, not in being the deepest expert in any single channel.
You will build and hold the marketing calendar, working collaboratively with key departments leads to ensure campaigns and launches are planned and delivered constantly across all channels, on time, for maximum performance impact. Ensuring the wider business always knows what marketing is doing and when.
You will be immersed enough in brand and digital to ask the right questions and make good calls, while relying on your team and partners for specialist execution.
Although the role is office based, there is some flexibility around when a hybrid approach is required.
Key Responsibilities
Planning, Process & Delivery
- Own the marketing critical path, ensuring every campaign, launch and promotion is planned, resourced and delivered to deadline.
- Build and maintain the marketing calendar, working collaboratively with key departments to source product information, giving the business clear visibility of what is coming up and when.
- Set and enforce processes and ways of working across the marketing team, so plans are followed rather than reworked at the last minute.
- Run regular planning and review meetings, tracking progress against plan and resolving blockers early.
- Act as the main point of accountability for marketing delivery to the founders and wider leadership team.
Paid & Digital Marketing
- Oversee paid social, paid search and other digital acquisition channels, working with in-house or agency specialists to set targets and budgets.
- Ensure digital spend is planned, tracked and reported against clear return on investment measurements.
- Hold the digital team and partners to account on performance, pace and quality of delivery.
- Reviewing channel performance and feeding back key insights to continuously optimise and improve future campaigns and launches.
CRM
- Oversee the CRM strategy and lifecycle programme, working with the CRM specialist to grow engagement, repeat purchase and lifetime value.
- Ensure CRM campaigns are planned in line with the wider marketing calendar and delivered on schedule.
Social Media & Influencer Marketing
- Oversee the social media strategy and content calendar across all platforms.
- Oversee influencer and creator partnerships, ensuring activity is planned, briefed and tracked against clear objectives.
- Ensure social and influencer activity is aligned with product launches, promotions and the wider brand calendar.
Brand
- Own the brand calendar and ensure brand guidelines are applied consistently across all channels and touchpoints.
- Work with the Product and Creative teams to plan brand campaigns alongside commercial priorities.
- Protect consistency of tone of voice and visual identity as the team and channel mix grows.
- Lead, organise and develop the marketing team, setting clear priorities and holding people to a plan.
- Leading by example and developing a high performing team.
- Manage relationships with marketing agencies and technology partners, ensuring they deliver against brief and timeline.
- Partner closely with Product, Ecommerce, Operations and Finance to keep marketing activity aligned with stock, trading and financial plans.
- Report progress and results clearly and regularly to the founders.
Skills & Experience
- A proven organiser: someone who plans, sequences and drives delivery, rather than someone whose value is a single area of specialist expertise.
- Broad working knowledge across paid and digital marketing, CRM, social media, influencer marketing and brand, sufficient to direct specialists and make good decisions, without needing to be the deepest expert in any one area.
- Track record of running a marketing critical path or campaign calendar and making sure it is followed, in a fast-paced retail, fashion or DTC environment.
- Strong project management discipline: clear planning, realistic timelines, and the persistence to keep a team and agencies to a plan.
- Experience managing a multidisciplinary marketing team and external agencies.
- Comfortable with budgets and performance KPI reporting such as ROAS, CAC, MER and confident holding others to account on performance.
- Clear, direct communicator, able to keep founders and leadership informed without being asked.
Success Measures
- Marketing activity consistently planned and delivered on the critical path, with no late or missed launches.
- A marketing calendar that is maintained, accurate and used by the wider business.
- Improved return on paid and digital marketing spend.
- Growth in CRM revenue, increased customer engagement, customer retention and lifetime value.
- Consistent brand execution across all channels as the team and activity scale.
