Job summary

Brackenberry Limited, in partnership with a Local Authority in Carmarthenshire, is recruiting a Market Assistant on a 1-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension at the client’s discretion.

The role covers general cleaning, waste disposal, opening/closing of market premises, alarm procedures, basic security, and assisting with market activities while maintaining good relations with traders and the public. Immediate availability preferred; right to work in the UK required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the cleanliness of the Market Hall, Market Office, Market Precinct, Outdoor Market and public and traders' conveniences.
• Open and close the premises on operational days, including setting and deactivating intruder alarms.
• Act as a key holder for the premises and ensure buildings are secure.
• Assist with weekly fire alarm testing and respond appropriately to fire alarm activations.
• Investigate fire alarm activations, reset false alarms and participate in fire evacuation procedures when required.
• Operate floor-cleaning equipment and the market waste compactor safely.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to use own initiative and demonstrate a conscientious approach to work.
• Confident and pleasant manner when responding to customer and public enquiries.
• Ability to carry out basic manual tasks.
• Ability to maintain and update cleaning and maintenance reports.
