Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a reliable Cleaning Operative to maintain cleanliness, safety and security across the Market Hall and surrounding areas. The role involves general cleaning, waste management, opening and closing the premises, and operating cleaning equipment.

You will work on-site with a 9.5-hour day, paid at £12.71 per hour, with Saturday availability. Duties include monitoring cleanliness, responding to enquiries, keeping records, and assisting with safety procedures.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to carry out cleaning and maintenance records.
• Honest, reliable and conscientious.
• Smart and presentable appearance.
• Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to work on a rota basis.
• Must be available to work Saturdays.
• Experience dealing with members of the public or service users.

Responsibilities

• Open the market premises and deactivate security alarms at the start of the day.
• Carry out general cleaning of the Market Hall, public toilets, traders’ facilities, offices and surrounding areas.
• Operate floor-cleaning machinery and market waste compactors.
• Collect and dispose of waste safely, ensuring recycling and waste areas are maintained.
• Monitor the cleanliness, safety and security of the market throughout the day.
• Assist with weekly fire alarm testing and respond to fire alarms when required.
• Interact with market traders and members of the public, responding to general enquiries.
• Maintain cleaning and maintenance records.
• Lock up the premises and activate security alarms at the end of the working day.
