Job summary

Arup’s Maritime team is growing across Scotland and the North of England. We seek a Maritime Engineer to join a multidisciplinary group delivering coastal resilience, port development and marine infrastructure.

You will work with senior engineers, engage directly with clients and contribute to design, analysis and construction support across a varied UK portfolio. Opportunities to mentor graduates and progress professionally are integral to the role.

Qualifications

  • BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (MICE, MIStructE or equivalent).
  • Experience designing and delivering maritime or related infrastructure (bridges, waterfronts, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, BS 6349 and industry standards.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
  • Confident working with clients, contractors, regulators and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills; manage multiple priorities to programme.
  • Experience in port, harbour, shipyard or coastal infrastructure.
  • Experience with quay walls, piled jetties, dolphins or heavy-lift slabs.
  • Experience using structural or geotechnical finite element analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects from masterplanning and concept through to detailed design and construction.
  • Produce and review maritime engineering designs, calculations, reports, drawings and digital models.
  • Undertake inspections, condition surveys and technical assessments.
  • Develop technical details and sketches for CAD and Revit.
  • Support specifications, contract documentation and project management.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers.
