Job summary

Matchtech Group is supporting a defence, security and maritime technology client in recruiting a Field Service Engineer to install, commission and maintain radar, navigation and electronic systems across the UK and international sites.

The role involves regular travel to customer locations and vessels, fault‑finding and testing, technical training delivery and the preparation of detailed service reports, while complying with health, safety and vetting requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in a field service engineering environment, ideally marine/defence.
• Practical knowledge of navigation, radar and electronics testing.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Understanding of computer hardware, software and basic networking.
• Willingness to travel extensively in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain radar, navigation and electronic systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose faults and carry out acceptance tests.
• Travel regularly to UK and overseas customer sites and vessels.
• Provide technical support on naval, commercial vessels and shore systems.
• Deliver customer training and prepare service reports.
• Communicate field information to management and support teams.
• Support helpdesk when office-based and comply with safety rules.
