Job summary

DCV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, commission and service marine radar, navigation and electronic systems. You will diagnose faults, test equipment and contribute to technical inspections at customer sites across the UK and internationally.

The role requires reading technical documentation, hands-on problem solving, and a willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice. A full driving licence and passport are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Field Service Engineer or similar role.
• Ability to fault-find and service complex electrical/electronic systems.
• Knowledge of electronics, hardware and basic networking.
• Experience with installation, commissioning or maintenance of technical systems.
• Ability to read technical documentation and engineering drawings.

Job description

We are recruiting a Field Service Engineer to join an established engineering business specialising in marine electronics, radar systems and navigation technology. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Service Engineer, Marine Engineer, Electronics Engineer or Commissioning Engineer who enjoys technical problem-solving, customer interaction and international travel. You will support equipment installed on naval vessels, commercial ships and shore-based systems, carrying out installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and technical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and troubleshoot marine radar, navigation and electronic systems. Diagnose electrical, electronic, hardware and basic networking faults. Carry out equipment testing, acceptance testing and technical inspections. Provide field service support at customer sites across the UK and internationally. Interpret technical manuals, engineering documentation and system drawings. Complete accurate service reports and communicate technical findings. Support customers remotely through technical helpdesk activities. Work safely on vessels, at heights and in challenging engineering environments.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Technician, Electronics Engineer or similar.
• Strong practical fault-finding, servicing and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and basic networking.
• Experience with installation, commissioning or maintenance of technical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
• Full driving licence and valid passport.
• Willingness to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice.
• Desirable Experience Marine electronics, maritime systems, naval equipment or radar technology. Navigation equipment, ECDIS, serial interfacing or electronic test equipment. ONC or equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience working at heights or undertaking tower climbing training.
