Job summary

Careers On The Thames is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead the safe, compliant operation of maritime facilities and assets. You will oversee piers, vesselside equipment, offices, and welfare spaces, ensuring high standards and efficient delivery.

The role blends strategic planning with hands-on leadership, managing asset lifecycles, regulatory compliance, and contractor performance while coordinating with internal teams and external partners to optimise service quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in facilities or infrastructure management, ideally in maritime/regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety and regulatory compliance.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts and suppliers.
• Ability to lead teams and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
• Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering projects and driving operational improvements.
• Understanding of environmental and sustainability practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Maritime Infrastructure function, ensuring alignment with safety management systems.
• Oversee day-to-day operations to meet contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements.
• Ensure processes and risk assessments are documented and maintained.
• Manage assets including piers, equipment, offices, and welfare facilities.
• Develop preventative and reactive maintenance programmes and asset lifecycles.
• Oversee budgets, procurement, and supplier performance.
• Manage contracts and service providers to ensure value and compliance.
• Act as main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
