Job summary

Thames Luxury Charters Ltd is seeking a skilled Marine Engineer to support safe, reliable operation of our passenger vessel fleet on the River Thames. This hands-on role covers planned maintenance, fault-finding and repairs across a diverse fleet, with close collaboration to the Marine Operations team and contractors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in marine engineering or similar role.
• Strong mechanical skills and a hands-on maintenance approach.
• Experience with marine diesel engines and propulsion systems.
• Good diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns.
• Commitment to safety, reliability and quality workmanship.
• Excellent communication with vessel crews and contractors.
• Full right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, fault-finding and repairs across the fleet.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and machinery-related faults.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, defect reports and engineering documentation.
• Support the safe operation and reliability of marine engines, propulsion systems, generators, pumps, cooling systems and auxiliary machinery.
• Undertake maintenance and repairs involving propulsion equipment, including Voith Schneider propulsion systems and bow thrusters, where fitted.
• Work with external contractors and specialist engineers when required.
• Ensure all engineering work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
• Maintain clean, organised and safe engine rooms, workshops and engineering areas.
• Assist with vessel preparation, repairs and maintenance during MCA surveys, inspections and dry-docking periods.
• Provide practical engineering support to vessel crews and the wider operations team.
• Participate in vessel movements, event operations and operational support across a seven-day working week when required.
