Job summary

QinetiQ Limited is seeking a Communications Maintenance Engineer at our Portsmouth site. The role focuses on ensuring the reliability of critical communication systems and supporting Harbour Acceptance Trials to advance maritime technology.

You will configure GFX equipment, maintain it per UMMS and OEM guidelines, and work with Combat Systems Engineers during trials. NVQ Level 3 in Engineering is required and SC clearance is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance of communication systems.
• Eligible for SC clearance.

Responsibilities

• Configure GFX equipment and infrastructure per RFMS specifications for trials.
• Maintain all GFX equipment per UMMS, BRs, JSPs and OEM guidelines; perform scheduled maintenance.
• Ensure GFX equipment is safe, well-maintained and available for daily trials scheduled on RFMS.
• Collaborate with Combat Systems Engineers, teams and customers to provide support during trials.
• Conduct fault-finding and reconfigure equipment as needed; support monthly System Operator Checks.
• Register and investigate GFX defects on RFMS and keep the Operations Team informed of progress.
