Job summary

North Star Shipping currently seeks an Electro Technical Officer for its SOV fleet. The role covers electrical maintenance, testing and repair of motors, generators, batteries, and distribution systems on a dynamic offshore vessel.

You will be responsible for thermographic inspections, equipment calibration, and ensuring safe operation of DP and gangway/crane systems. A relevant certification is preferred; offshore experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• ETO Certificate of Competency required.
• Experience with energy storage systems beneficial but not required.
• Experience with diesel-electric systems preferred.
• Experience with motion-compensated gangway/crane preferred.
• DP System Maintenance certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Overhauls, cleaning, insulation testing and inspection of electric motors and alternators.
• Thermographic scanning and remedial action as required.
• Maintenance of electrical lighting, outlets, distribution panels, transformers and portable equipment.
• Maintenance and testing battery systems.
• Inventory management of electrical consumables.
• Maintenance and inspection of electrical test equipment and calibration tracking.
• Carry out and verify electrical isolations on behalf of Chief Engineer.
• Ensure specific electrical tools are available and maintained.
• Assist Chief Engineer and watch keepers with electrical fault finding.
• Maintenance and testing of control, navigation and communications equipment.
• Maintenance and testing of Dynamic Positioning and gangway/crane systems.
• Monitor third-party personnel for correct and safe interface of their equipment to vessel systems.
• Report defects to plant and machinery installed on board.
• Execute actions to fulfill the company Planned Maintenance System as directed.
• Monitor safe working practices of shore contractors during periods of maintenance.
• Promote and progress the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
• Promote inter-departmental communications.
