Job title: Production Technician

Area: Aldershot

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Technician to join our client's team at a leading gear manufacturing facility. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring precision machinery to produce high-quality gears in line with technical specifications and production targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the production process.

What you will be doing as a Production Technician

1. Set up machines according to detailed operational requirements, including selecting and loading the appropriate gear cutting program.
2. Ensure correct and secure product loading and clamping before machining operations begin.
3. Adjust and change machine settings efficiently when switching between jobs within defined timeframes.
4. Perform gear cutting operations and apply the correct deburring and polishing methods to meet specified design dimensions and surface finishes.
5. Operate multiple machines simultaneously when batch sizes and components permit.
6. Carry out in-process inspections, ensuring parts are produced accurately and to the highest quality standards, following technical drawings and validation sheets.
7. Use precision measurement tools, such as micrometers and verniers, to verify product dimensions.
8. Read and interpret technical drawings to guide machining processes and maintain product accuracy.
9. Address technical queries where possible and escalate issues when necessary.
10. Support production efficiency by assisting colleagues and contributing to a smooth workflow across the team.
11. Follow company quality systems and procedures to ensure compliance with production and safety standards.
12. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, completing any required training in line with HSE legislation.
13. Report any machine or production issues promptly to the Manager or Supervisor.
14. Always demonstrate punctuality and professionalism.

What qualifications do you need to be a Production Technician?

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role or industry.
• Proficient in using a variety of precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure product quality.
• Strong mathematical and technical abilities, with a solid understanding of engineering or manufacturing processes.
• Experienced in systematic problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.
• Ability to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Quick to learn and adaptable, capable of adjusting to new processes, tools, or environments with ease.
