Job description

Manufacturing Health & Safety Compliance Advisor (SHEQ)
Monday to Friday - 40 hours/week
Maltby (S66 7RH) & Ranskill (DN22 8RB)
Salary Circa £44,000 - £50,000 DOE + Benefits

Be the driving force behind safe manufacturing at Marshalls plc, the UK's leading supplier of hard landscaping, roofing, and building products. With over 130 years of manufacturing expertise and Superbrand status since 2010, we're proud to be a FTSE 250 company that prioritises safety, sustainability, and operational excellence!

We're looking for a proactive Manufacturing Health & Safety Compliance Advisor to join our team.
Known internally as a SHEQ Compliance Leader, you'll be based primarily at our Maltby site, with responsibility for also supporting our Ranskill facility.

Your mission? To champion a strong, embedded safety culture.
Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, you'll be the key advisor on all things SHE (Safety, Health & Environment). Working closely with site leaders, engineers, and manufacturing teams, you'll help ensure safety is more than just a tick-box exercise - it's a core part of how we work.

This is a hands-on role that will see you out on the shop floor - shaping behaviours, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement across a range of health and safety activities.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring teams operate in line with site safety standards, policies, and legal requirements
  • Lead and support risk assessments, safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Actively contribute to incident prevention, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Maintain and improve our health & safety management systems (aligned with ISO 45001)
  • Deliver toolbox talks, support training programmes, and provide day-to-day safety guidance to shift teams
  • Work closely with maintenance and manufacturing teams to reduce hazards and ensure safe working practices
  • Support environmental compliance, including site waste management and adherence to permits
  • Collaborate with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and contractors as required

What You'll Bring:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety (essential)
  • Strong experience in a manufacturing, quarrying, or industrial environment
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Experience leading or supporting audits, inspections, and investigations
  • Confidence in engaging employees at all levels, especially in high-paced, operational settings
  • Solid understanding of accident prevention techniques and safety improvement initiatives
  • Root cause analysis (RCA), 5 Whys, or other H&S problem-solving tools experience is a plus

Why Join Marshalls?

  • 26 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Monday to Friday working hours
  • Guaranteed Christmas holidays
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Annual pay reviews as you develop into the role
  • 5% employer-matched pension scheme
  • Health care cash plan - dental, optical, prescriptions & more
  • Free onsite parking
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity & Adoption leave
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Discounts on Marshalls and Marley products
  • Retail discounts & wellbeing hub
  • EE mobile phone discount - friends & family
  • Life assurance
  • Share purchase scheme
