Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is representing an established manufacturer seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support new product introduction, production efficiency and the implementation of new machinery and technology.

You will lead NPI activities, produce manufacturing documentation, design jigs and fixtures, install equipment, drive cost and quality improvements, and work with Design, R&D, Production and Purchasing to bring products to market.

Qualifications

  • Requires a degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least two years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD/CAM tools and MRP/ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce new products into production from prep to launch.
  • Produce manufacturing documentation: drawings, PFMEAs, work instructions, BOMs, costings.
  • Design and develop production jigs and fixtures.
  • Support installation of new machinery and manufacturing technology.
  • Improve quality, efficiency and cost through continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Design, R&D, Production and Purchasing on product development.

Manufacturing Engineer

£45,000 - £50,000| Full Time | Permanent | 39 Hours per Week

Are you a Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys introducing new products, improving production processes and solving technical manufacturing challenges?

An established manufacturer is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support new product introduction, production efficiency and the implementation of new machinery and technology.

The Role
  • Introduce new products into production, supporting projects from technical preparation through to launch.
  • Produce manufacturing documentation, including drawings, PFMEAs, work instructions, BOMs and costings.
  • Design and develop production jigs and fixtures.
  • Support the installation and introduction of new machinery and manufacturing technology.
  • Improve production quality, efficiency and cost through structured continuous improvement.
  • Work alongside Design, R&D, Production and Purchasing teams on product development and supplier projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation in line with relevant quality and regulatory requirements.
Essential Requirements
  • Qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least two years' experience within a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, CAD/CAM and MRP or ERP systems.
  • Ability to read and produce engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes involving plastics, aluminium and steel fabrication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
Desirable
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor or similar CAD packages.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience with machining, laser cutting, welding, tube bending or coating processes.
  • Understanding of ISO 13485 or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • CNC programming or manufacturing equipment experience.
