Job summary

Placr Recruitment is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for a precision engineering and manufacturing business in West Sussex. The role focuses on developing and improving manufacturing methods, supporting production teams, and ensuring efficient, safe, high-quality output.

You will work with CNC milling/turning, fixture design, Lean methods and continuous improvement projects to reduce costs and improve productivity. The position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

Five years’ experience in a similar Manufacturing Engineering role.
HNC/HND in Manufacturing or Production Engineering or engineering apprenticeship.
Experience with CNC programming and metal part manufacturing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Design and manufacture bespoke workholding and fixtures using SolidWorks.
Create and amend CNC programs both at the machine and using CAD/CAM software.
Prove out CNC programs and optimise machining processes.
Produce job setup sheets and manufacturing documentation.
Manage tooling and fixtures across production.
Lead continuous improvement projects to increase productivity, reduce waste and lower manufacturing costs.
Analyse production methods and recommend improvements.
Support make-or-buy decisions through manufacturing cost analysis.
Train and support production staff with technical expertise and work instructions.
Work collaboratively across engineering and manufacturing teams to improve operational performance.
